Lavos is our parish which is 8 kms south from Figueira da Foz, our town. The village and the town are close to the sea. As a result it was possible to start the industry of sea salt many years ago. It was the main occupation of the villagers for a long time. As a consequence the people started singing and dancing according to the work they were developing. Therefore in 1959 some people decided to organise a group in order to preserve the traditions connected with this activity. The group "AS SALINEIRAS DE LAVOS" was born.
